Tile URLs

You can use the overlay tiles with other services like BikeRouter. See the documentation for this feature. For your server, use the following URLs:

The latest_new strategy outlines the tiles that one activity discovered and the tiles that joined a cluster with it. It uses the most recent activity that found a tile at the given zoom level. Append &activity_id=… to pick a specific activity instead:

The track of the most recent activity that discovered a tile at the given zoom level is available as a solid-colored line in its own layer (configurable under Settings → Tile Rendering). Append ?activity_id=… to pick a specific activity instead:

The tiles that you have marked as inaccessible form their own layer that you can combine with any of the above:

Style JSON for MapLibre GL clients

Applications that consume a MapLibre GL style document rather than a plain tile URL (for example Wanderer) can use this endpoint, which returns the explorer tiles injected as a raster source and layer:

/explorer/17/style.json?color_strategy=colorful_cluster

If map_style_url is set in config.json, that style is fetched and extended with the explorer tiles source and layer. Otherwise a minimal raster style is generated from the configured map tile URL. Both this endpoint and the explorer tile endpoints send an Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * header, so external browser-based map applications can fetch them directly.

To combine several explorer layers into a single style document (for example the visited tiles and the inaccessible tiles at multiple zoom levels), use the combined endpoint instead. Without a layers parameter it includes the colorful_cluster and inaccessible layers for every configured explorer zoom level:

Pass layers as a comma-separated list of zoom:kind entries, where kind is either a color strategy, the literal inaccessible or the literal latest_new_activity, to control exactly which layers are combined and in which order:
